A short story about Somerled
About Me
Welcome to Ink & Light — a meeting place between words and images, silence and story.
My name is Somerled Karlsson, and I live on Fairyhill, near the southern coast of Sweden. The landscape here — open skies, quiet fields, and the distant shimmer of the sea — shapes nearly everything I create. It reminds me that beauty is not a matter of perfection, but of presence.
The Art of Seeing
I work primarily with analogue and handmade cameras, often a pinhole camera built from wood and 3D-printed parts. It has no lens — only a small hole that lets the light in slowly, patiently. This way of working is more than a technique; it’s a form of meditation. Each photograph is an act of waiting, of listening to time itself.
In a world of instant images, I prefer the long moment — where exposure becomes experience, and where imperfection holds truth. The grain, the blur, the uneven edges — they speak of life as it is: unpredictable, fleeting, and real.

Ink and Imagination
Writing, for me, is another form of photography. Through language, I try to capture what can’t be seen — the inner landscapes of memory, myth, and wonder. My stories and poems often explore the meeting between the ancient and the modern, the sacred and the ordinary.
I believe that every work of art, whether made of ink or light, is a conversation between the visible and the invisible. It’s not about control, but discovery — about letting something larger than oneself speak through the work.
A Philosophy of Creation
Art, to me, is not a profession but a pilgrimage. Each project begins with curiosity, with a question that has no answer. I follow that question wherever it leads — through fog, across seas, or into forgotten stories.
In the end, what I seek is not to explain the world, but to touch it — gently, truthfully, through image and word alike.
Thank you for being here. I hope that somewhere within these pages, a spark of Ink & Light will meet your own imagination.
